Quick a decent place to have izakaya. One thing I always return for is the kong ba pau, love that the meat is leaner side! Sashimi and sticks isn’t the best but was decent. Garlic butter grilled seafood and mentaiko egg was great with generous sauce! Would recommend for izakaya lover who likes wide variety.
Everything was good. Better to make your reservation to prevent disappointment.
Menu was extensive. Maybe interior lights were too bright.
My colleagues and I went on a Friday night. Reservation was probably needless but of course, highly encouraged for a peace of mind. The lack of boisterous crowd (very much appreciated) was likely due to its slightly inaccessible location. The 4 of us were too greedy and ordered way too much food (2 skewers each from chef’s recommended items); they were really good though! The mentaiko pork skewer immediately became a crowd favourite, so did the shrooms, karage, and asari clams. Maki rolls didn’t leave much impact for us.
Came here for lunch and loved the food so much we came back for dinner too! We had the chicken wings, teriyaki beef (the reason we came back), teriyaki chicken, butter corn, shiitake mushrooms, and sweet potato. We were just in Tokyo and this really brought us back to Omoide Yokocho.
We had the set lunch here. I like the yakitori set. Will definitely go again to try out others.
Box n Sticks is honestly one of the most understated Japanese hunts in Singapore that I find myself returning to time and time again for its consistency & delicious food. It is good for hosting groups and the food always hits the spot. Loved the festive set which was extensive with sides and mains and even the desserts. The stand outs are definitely their fusion pastas, and rice bowls! The soft shell crab roll is also so delicious. All the flavours lean towards the stronger side, but they were all crowd pleasers. Cant wait to be back again!
Nice atmosphere here. Was quite a walk from Bugis MRT.
Food was great, except the skewers. We had high expectations for them but they were quite tough to bite and even get off the sticks. Staff kept clearing our plates even when we weren’t done - not sure why.
Enjoyed the sushi especially!
2 of my friends ordered the salmon bowl and it was super salty. They didn’t even enjoy their main cause the salmon was really way too salty. The garlic spicy clams was abit salty too but it’s not that bad with rice 🍚 Sushi was not bad. The pork bun is not that fantastic… Both the bun and pork was alittle tough… The mentaiko tamago and corns was fine~ Salshimi and salmon belly was good 👍🏻 Which I don’t understand why is the salmon bowl so salty while the salshimi and salmon belly was fine 🥸 I did really enjoy the beef bowl, it was so good 👍🏻 One of the staff was unfriendly but the other staffs were fine. I don’t usually won’t leave bad reviews but I would rate the salmon bowl is 1 out of 5. It is really too salty.
